Akira Onozuka launched the ZUCCA collection in Paris in 1988, after working as a designer for Issey Miyake for 15 years. Onozuka treats his design process as an experimental three-dimensional art form in which functionality is just one of many goals. He finds inspiration in the things he sees and hears through his travels, books and art. What he appreciates most in the creation of his collection is the process itself, the development and evolution that follow it. Onozuka compares the creation of a collection to a small organic farm, where you have to supervise each crop with care and attention to detail.
